The practicality of installing a storage solution for commercial buildings depends on the number of consumers and the main switchboard solution, as well as the readiness for electric vehicle charging and the possibilities for establishing a solar power plant. Additionally, there must be sufficient free space in the technical room or in the immediate vicinity of the building for batteries and inverters.
If a solar power plant is installed at the commercial building and the excess produced electricity is sold to the grid, it is reasonable to add a storage solution to increase self-consumption of the produced electricity, which can be connected to an electric vehicle charging station. Adding storage is also important in the sense that it is not necessary to increase the main fuse for charging electric vehicles, as the storage solution allows for smart management of stored electricity consumption and electric vehicle charging, ensuring sufficient power reserve.
As the electricity consumption needs of different commercial and industrial buildings vary, it is necessary to analyze the storage capacity and inverter power considering the consumption and solar power plant production data. Since storage can ensure supply security during power outages, it is reasonable to consider in storage capacity planning that 4-5 hours of consumption reserve is guaranteed. The system can use inverters (PCS) of different powers, which convert electricity into direct current (DC) for storage in batteries and back to alternating current (AC) for consumption of stored electricity.
For commercial buildings, we offer a high voltage (HV) battery solution with battery voltages ranging from 150-800 V, achieved by connecting batteries in series.
We use the Vilion EnerArk solution batteries. The system voltage ranges from 250-748.80 Vdc, and we recommend using Megarevo MPS (with MPPT input) or Mega series inverters. The optimal system capacity is up to 150-500 kWh. Solutions suitable for both outdoor and indoor conditions are available. The storage capacity is up to 215 kWh with a charging power of 100 kW. Vilion EnerArk storage units are modular and easily expandable.
The Megarevo product series includes high-voltage (HV) MPS and Mega series inverters suitable for medium-sized consumers. These inverters are selected based on the analysis of production and consumption data and are designed together with a storage solution.
The power of the inverters ranges from 30 kW to 500 kW. Depending on the client’s needs, transformers can be used with the inverters, which, together with STS and Soleron EMS, enable uninterrupted power supply in the event of a grid failure.
